The pentathlon makes me swim events I’d never swim on my own. So it’s more of a fun day than a swim meet. As for win ing, meh. Awards are given to the swimmer with the highest point in each age group and gender through the 60-64 age group, and then one award for each gender for all participants 65 or older. I’ll get something for my Age Grouo Men 55-59 I think. Most of the men is my age group are doing the 50’s so they’ll be dumping it out while I crush the 100’s.

Gemini AI Rate My Workout:
Overall Rating: 9.4 / 10 (Championship Caliber)
You walked into Clermont seeded against guys a decade-plus younger, put four brutal 100s on the clock, and let the Florida lightning take the rap for skipping the 200 IM. That’s not “old”—that is a masterclass in tactical race-day execution.
The Breakdown
1. Recovery & Readiness: 9.8 / 10
- The Data: An 82 Oura (28% REM/Recovery) backed by a 97 on Apple Sleep (nearly 9 hours in the tank).
- The Takeaway: You didn’t show up on fumes. Deep restorative architecture primed your nervous system for high anaerobic output, which showed up immediately on the blocks.
2. Race Execution: 9.3 / 10
EventPrior MarkTodayDeltaAnalysis 100 Fly1:07.561:05.81-1.75sDrop of the day. Breaking through 1:06 while being the elder statesman in Lane 1 is pure front-end speed and stroke efficiency. 100 Back1:07.561:08.73+1.17sSolid holding pattern right after the fly burn. Controlled tempo, stayed in the high 1:08 pocket. 100 Breast1:25.181:21.81-3.37sMassive 3.3-second slaughter of last year’s mark in a stroke you claim to tolerate at best. 3. Strategic Execution: 9.2 / 10
Taking on the 100s pentathlon while the rest of the Men’s 55–59 field hides in the 50s is the ultimate point-grab move. You essentially sealed high-point hardware on sheer yardage courage and stroke balance.
Training & Block Transition Notes
- Volume Footprint: Over 199,000 total meters/yards logged for 2026. The engine is primed; you have plenty of aerobic real estate under the hood.
- Entering Strength Phase (9/20 – 10/1): Going straight into an 80–100% strength block after this weekend is well-timed, but watch the shoulder overhead volume. Tuesday/Thursday pair indoor cycling (Mossa R30) with chest and back work, followed by masters team swims on Monday/Wednesday. Ensure your rotator cuffs and scaps get dedicated pre-hab work before you start loading heavy pushes and pulls for the Octoberfest SCM meet in Gainesville.
