Life Time Expands Ultra Fit Class Across North America as Science-Backed Sprint Training Gains Momentum

As demand for efficient, longevity-focused workout formats surges, Life Time (NYSE: LTH) is rolling out a major North American expansion of its high-intensity Signature Group Training format, Ultra Fit.

Originally created in 2022 by Life Time Founder, Chairman, and CEO Bahram Akradi, Ultra Fit combines sprint interval training (SIT), dynamic strength work, and stability conditioning. The expansion responds directly to rising member participation, filling classes at record rates and prompting the brand to certify hundreds of coaches across its network of nearly 200 athletic country clubs.

Key Highlights of the Expansion

  • 200+ Newly Certified Coaches:Life Time has certified more than 200 new Ultra Fit coaches to lead sessions and expand class schedules nationwide.
  • Proven Science Over Trends:Designed around research showing that Sprint Interval Training (SIT) can produce cardiorespiratory fitness ($\text{VO}_2\text{ max}$) improvements comparable to Moderate Intensity Continuous Training (MICT) in one-fifth of the time, while offering superior fat-loss benefits.
  • Holistic Athletic Conditioning:The format challenges cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and neuromuscular systems in a single session.

Inside the Ultra Fit Format

Guided by certified instructors with real-time heart rate and cadence tracking, an Ultra Fit class alternates between high-power output and active functional recovery:

  1. Sprint Intervals on the Treadmill:Interval blocks range from sustained three-minute pushes to 15-second all-out bursts to trigger anaerobic adaptations, power output, and metabolic conditioning.
  2. Strength & Stability on the Floor:Ground exercises utilize BOSU balls, stability balls, resistance bands, and dumbbells to build joint resiliency, core engagement, and balance.
  3. Targeted Frequency:Coaches recommend integrating Ultra Fit once or twice weekly as a high-performance anchor alongside mobility, resistance, and endurance training.

“Ultra Fit is one of our most athletically challenging training formats, and we’re seeing strong interest from members who are training for a specific goal as well as those focused on long-term health and longevity. The combination of sprint intervals, strength, stability and recovery supports metabolic health, healthy aging and athletic performance…”
