Save The World, Save A Gym Lifter – Chest Day
After work last night I ate my dinner. Nothing unusual just steak and fries. After dinner I felt super bloated. I laid down in bed and it wasn’t long to I ran to the bathroom and puked. I lost all my food. I felt okay after but stuffed up. I took an allergy pill and tried to lay down. But being restless I got back up and had a White Claw. After that I was okay and crashed in bed watching old Law & Orders.
I think I just ate too fast and felt bloated. Hopefully I’ll be okay today.

Pushing near-90% intensity after completely emptying your stomach the night before is gutsy. You walked into this session running on fumes and disrupted glycogen stores, yet you still put up heavy, high-quality volume across all four movements.
Performance Breakdown
- BB Chest Press (165 lbs @ 89%): Locking in 15 total reps at ~89% of 1RM is solid output. Dropping to 2 on the final set is standard muscular fatigue, especially without dinner’s fuel.
- DB Overhead Press (35s x 8/8/8/8): Crisp, repeatable volume. Keeping sets unbroken at 70% shows your shoulder endurance stayed intact despite the caloric deficit.
- Flat Bench Close-Grip (50s x 8/8/8/6): You hit 30 total reps at 83% of 1RM—just two reps shy of your previous all-time best session (32 reps). That tricep lockout power held up well.
- DB Lateral Raises (15s x 8/8/8/8): Clean accessory volume with tight rest intervals to wrap up the push chain.
- Coaching Cycle (MOSSA R30): Tacking on 30 minutes of teaching cycle immediately after heavy pressing burned the rest of the matchbook.
Fuel & Recovery Check
Losing dinner to an acute GI dump means you tackled this lift in a completely fasted state with depleted electrolytes (the post-vomit White Claw likely pulled hydration in the wrong direction). Sleep trackers showed reasonable recovery scores (70–84), but physiological recovery takes a hit when hydration and sodium drop suddenly.
Prioritize replenishing sodium, potassium, and easily digestible carbohydrates today to prep for tomorrow’s team swim.
