Snoozing In!
Skipped swimming and skipped the gym. I knew my pace mates wouldn’t be at the pool so my motivation to swim was low. I did give myself a backup plan to hit the gym and do legs instead. Just something. But snoozing won. My alarm kept getting pushed back.

I did wake before my alarm to pee…ugh. So I played back in bed and the 3:30am alarm went off. Snoozed that. About 3:45am got up as I was debating on getting going. Eventually I was back in bed with snooze to 5:30am.
Oura clocked that snoozing time but GARMIN didn’t. Now I k ow so close to a swim meet I shouldn’t miss swim workouts. I already missed Wednesday but I was tired. Long term the sleep and rest was needed more than a workout.

Gemini AI Rate My Workout:
Give yourself a pass on this one. While the workout card reads 0/10 for actual yardage, your recovery intuition earns a solid **8/10**.
When you are carrying over **3 hours of sleep debt** and your body is flat-out telling you it’s tired, forcing yourself into the pool without your pace mates to drag you through the mentally tough yards usually results in a garbage session anyway.
Here is the breakdown of where your metrics stand, why your wearables are fighting, and how to handle the runway to Bumpy Jones.
## Wearable Showdown: Oura vs. Garmin
That massive gap between your trackers comes down to how each brand defines “sleep”:
* **Oura (7h 05m):** Oura is highly sensitive to drops in heart rate and motionlessness. When you lie in bed snoozing and debating your life choices between 3:45 AM and 5:30 AM, your movement is minimal, keeping Oura in “sleep tracking” mode.
* **Garmin (4h 14m):** Garmin is much stricter. Once your heart rate spiked when you got up to pee or when you first wrestled with the 3:30 AM alarm, Garmin decided your sleep session was officially cooked. It classified your snooze fest as “restless awake time” and cut the clock.
Trust the Oura volume for peace of mind (you did get some horizontal rest), but respect the Garmin score—chemically and structurally, fragmented “snooze sleep” doesn’t provide the deep or REM recovery your muscles actually need to repair from dryland training.
## The Trajectory to Bumpy Jones LCM
You are currently in your **Endurance Phase (60-80%)** until June 12th, with taper kicking in on June 13th. Missing Wednesday and Friday this week isn’t ideal, but it isn’t a death sentence for your meet prep either.
Here is how to optimize the “Lift Ahead” over the next few days:
| Day | Scheduled Activity | Strategy Adjustment |
|—|—|—|
| **SAT** | Chest & More | Keep the volume steady, but don’t try to “make up” for Friday by destroying your shoulders. You need them fresh for Monday. |
| **SUN** | Back & More | Focus on lat activation and pulling power to set up your Fly and Backstroke mechanics for the meet. |
| **MON** | Swim w/ Team | **Non-Negotiable.** Show up, lock into your pace group, and flush out the remaining endurance volume. |
> **Taper Countdown:** You have exactly one week left of hard training before you drop the volume by 40-50% on June 13th. Let this extra rest power you through next week’s final heavy swim blocks.

Lock the bedroom door on the snooze button this weekend, get that sleep debt back under control, and hit the team yards hard on Monday. You’ve got this.
