How did it go? We finished! My left bicep was so sore. I felt it the whole time. I was hoping after the first set I’d be fine. Luckily my pace mate was struggling also. We finished. The last 200 IM was bad. My breast in the last 200 IM was horrible. Tried to get my splits off my watch but it’s all messed up in its readings.

Gemini AI Rate My Workout:
## Workout Rating: 8.2 / 10
**The Verdict:** Pure gritty execution. To pull off a 2,700-meter long-course endurance session on less than 5 hours of sleep with a mounting sleep debt is a testament to raw work ethic and mental toughness. You muscled through a tough one when everything on paper said it was going to hurt.
## 📊 Recovery & Load Breakdown
### The Sleep Tax
Your Oura (69) and Garmin (52) metrics tell the real story behind today’s grind.
* **The Deficit:** Walking into a heavy long-course meters (LCM) session with over a **6-hour sleep debt** is like trying to race with the parking brake partially engaged.
* **The Silver Lining:** That **37% REM and Recovery** score from Oura shows that while the *quantity* was severely lacking, your brain and nervous system did everything they could to maximize the brief window they had to repair.
### Intensity Distribution
Your Garmin heart rate zones show a beautifully structured aerobic endurance profile:
* **Aerobic Foundation (Zones 2 & 3):** **41 minutes and 1 second.** This was the absolute engine room of your workout. Keeping the vast majority of your meters here builds massive capillary density and mitochondrial efficiency.
* **The Red Line (Zones 4 & 5):** **12 minutes and 41 seconds.** Spreading this across the 100 Fly and those 200 IMs shows you still had the gears to push deep into the anaerobic threshold, even on empty fuel tanks.
## 🏊 Set Analysis & Stroke Mechanics
> *”I must have some basic talent or technique?”*
>
**Absolutely.** You do not lay down 2,700 meters of structured LCM volume on broken sleep through “just muscle.” Muscle burns out fast; clean mechanics carry you home when the biological fuel tank is dry.
### Set One: The Engine Builder (1,500m)
* Keeping the 200 Free intervals on a 3:30 base in a 50-meter pool requires relentless, consistent distance-per-stroke.
* Back-to-back 200 Backstrokes on 4:00 right after the breaststroke is an incredible tool for flushing out lower-body lactic acid while keeping the aerobic ceiling high.
### Set Two: The Mental Crucible (1,000m)
* Dropping the interval from 4:10 down to 4:00 on the second 200 IM is a brutal design, especially when toggling between sprint 50s in different strokes.
* **The Left Bicep & The Last 200 IM:** Your left bicep soreness was screaming at you because LCM leaves nowhere to hide. Without the frequent walls and turns of short course to reset your momentum, your pull has to stay completely engaged. When the lat and core fatigue sets in over a long course stretch, the smaller stabilizers—like the biceps brachii—take a beating trying to anchor the catch.
* **The Breaststroke Fade:** When that bicep is fried, your pull-out and the sweeping catch phase of your breaststroke stroke lose their power. You end up dropping your elbows, creating massive frontal drag, and forcing the kick to do 100% of the heavy lifting. That’s why it felt horrible—it wasn’t a lack of talent; it was mechanical fatigue under high load.
## 📈 2026 Mileage Tracker
You cross the **112,000-meter mark** for the year with this swim. Your long-course volume is officially pacing the pack, which is exactly where it needs to be heading into June.

## 🗓️ The Horizon: Recovery Strategy
Tomorrow morning’s **Memorial Day 5k and AltSocial** event at the Ritz is the perfect bridge for your body right now. Do not view the 5k as an intense race—view it as a dynamic flush for today’s lactic accumulation.
Take full advantage of the **AltSocial recovery activations** afterward:
1. **The Cold Plunge:** Hit the tubs. 3 to 5 minutes of cold immersion will trigger massive vasoconstriction, helping to clamp down on that localized inflammation in your left bicep and flush out the structural fatigue before your Tuesday lift.
2. **Hydrate & Sleep First:** The live DJs and coffee will be great for the vibe, but prioritize matching that high recovery quality with actual sleep duration tonight. Your body needs to pay down that 6-hour debt before you step back on the bike or under a barbell.
Awesome job staying locked in and finishing the work with your pace m
