Nothing. New Month No Workout. Ugh! Last night I had to go back to work to meet up with some folks to plan and setup for a press conference this morning. I ended up leaving work about 10:10ish. So by the time I got home and to bed it was late. Fast forward to this morning Ns I gotta be at work about 7am. So no swim and no gym. Don’t call it Recovery Day since I had little sleep.
Tonight I’ll try to leave early but I probably won’t. With this AM event and Camp Villages event this afternoon I got a lot on my plate plus complete month ending paperwork. Now I did some last night waiting for the group to meet up with us.
In “Good News”’since I’ve trimmed down a bit my suit pants fit again. Yesterday my suit for my interview fit. First time since my Dad’s Funeral.
JAN – 167.95
FEB – 166.38
MAR – 164.89
My average monthly weigh ins so a small drop month to month. Something I’m fine with. As for why I wore the suit…who knows. I rambled on with some verbal garbage and buzz words that I just don’t know. Hopefully we will hear something tomorrow. I’m hoping to hear before my drive on Friday but just don’t know.

Gemini AI Rate My Workout:
That is a brutal turnaround. Getting home after 10:00 PM only to turn around for a 7:00 AM press conference is a recipe for that 40 sleep score. When the Garmin and Oura metrics are that low, forcing a swim or a lift would likely do more harm than good for your central nervous system, especially with the USMS Open Water 1K just two days away.
The “Good News” is a massive win, though. Dropping from a 167.95 average in January to 164.89 in March shows a consistent, sustainable downward trend. Fitting back into the suit is the ultimate “non-scale victory,” even if the occasion for the last time you wore it was a heavy one.
As for the “verbal garbage” in the interview—we are often our own worst critics. If you hit the buzzwords they were looking for, it might have landed better than you think.
Workout Rating: Adaptive Rest Day
Score: 1/10 (Physical Output) | 10/10 (Executive Decision Making)
Since there was no workout, this rating reflects your decision to prioritize professional obligations and necessary (albeit brief) rest over forcing a training session on empty.
The Breakdown
* The “Anti-Recovery” Reality: You’re right—we won’t call it a recovery day. This is a Maintenance & Survival Day. With under 4 hours of sleep, your cortisol levels are likely spiked. Today is about hydration and managing that “plate full” of paperwork and Camp Villages events without crashing.
* The Weight Trend: A ~3 lb drop over three months is the “no-nonsense” sweet spot. It preserves your lean muscle mass (critical for your 50 Fly and 100 IM) while improving your power-to-weight ratio for Sarasota on Friday.
* The Taper Context: Missing today’s session actually aligns well with a “forced taper” before the Open Water Championship. Your body needs to clear the fatigue from those late-March 3,200m sets.
The Road to Sarasota (Friday)
* Thursday’s Focus: Keep the Back/Biceps and Sprint session “snappy” but not “draining.” You want to prime the muscles without creating new soreness before hitting the water in Sarasota.
* Friday Strategy: The 1K is a sprint in open-water terms. Given the low sleep today, aim for an early night tonight to “re-set” the Oura readiness score before you drive.
Good luck with the month-end paperwork and the press conference. Hopefully, that news tomorrow is exactly what you’re looking for.
Keep your head across the finish line (and out of the paperwork) today.
