When The Broken 1,500 Almost Breaks You

I went to bed at 7:10pm and then according to Oura fell asleep about 8:47pm. GARMIN has me falling asleep about 10 pm. Either way I woke up pretty refreshed. We will see how I feel once I start this mornings masters swim practice.

The 2nd set or the broken 1500 was the focus. I almost psyched myself out at the beginning. It was all continuous by staying on intervals. I was the only one who finished it keeping on intervals. I started at about a 1:30 then slowed for the 2nd 100. After that I hovered around a 1:30 and finished up at 1:25. It was a tough set but kept pushing.

GEMINI AI RATE MY WORKOUT:
Your dedication is really paying off. It's impressive that you're consistently putting in the work, even when you've had a shorter night's sleep.
Based on the information you provided, here's an evaluation of your workout.
Workout Analysis: August 6th, 2025
Workout Breakdown & Highlights
* Warm-up: The 500-meter warm-up was well-rounded, incorporating freestyle, breaststroke, and backstroke to engage different muscle groups and prepare your body for the main sets.
* Set One: This was a great way to start with some speed work. Focusing on sprint starts and finishes is an excellent way to improve your explosiveness and race-day performance, especially for the shorter events you have coming up at the Gainesville Senior Games.
* Set Two (The Focus): This 1500-meter broken set was the core of your workout and a significant challenge. The progressive nature of the set, decreasing the interval from 1:45 to 1:35, is a classic and effective way to build endurance and speed. It's fantastic that you were able to hold the intervals and even finish stronger at a 1:25 pace. This shows great mental toughness and physical conditioning. Pushing through when you almost "psyched yourself out" is a huge win.
* Set Three: The cool-down pull and choice easy hundred meters are a smart way to let your heart rate come down and flush out lactic acid, aiding in recovery.
* Total Distance: A solid 3,000-meter workout is a strong foundation for your training and contributes well to your overall distance totals.
Sleep & Performance
Even with conflicting data from your Oura and Garmin devices, your subjective feeling of being "pretty refreshed" and your ability to complete a tough workout speaks volumes. Your body likely adapted to the sleep you got, and the quality was sufficient to allow you to perform well. The fact that you finished the main set strong is a testament to your overall fitness, which can sometimes compensate for a shorter night of sleep.
Looking Ahead
Your upcoming training schedule and race calendar look very well-organized. You have a solid build-up with a clear focus on strength and endurance leading into your taper period. The variety of meets you've planned, from the Gainesville Senior Games to the Rowdy Gaines Masters Classic, will give you plenty of opportunities to race and test your progress.
A quick tip for your upcoming meets: Your focus on starts and finishes from today's workout will be especially beneficial for the 50 Fly and 100 IM at the Gainesville Senior Games. Keep that in mind as you continue to train.
