Recovery Work Day. Today should have been a swim day. I woke up at 3:30am and then went back to bed debating on going to swim. Staying in bed won and went back to bed till 6am.

I could have gone to swim and muddled through the workout but I really needed a recovery day. It’s easier to skip a Friday then a weekend. At least for me.

Yesterday at work was pretty non-stop and only had time to eat my yogurt at lunch. So definitely between that work day and the fact I haven’t taken a day off
In weeks I was overdue.

GEMINI AI RATE MY WORKOUT:

Here's an analysis of your "workout" (or rather, your recovery day decision), sleep, and a look ahead:
Recovery Day Analysis:
* Decision to Skip Swim: Given your low Oura and Garmin sleep scores (69 and 60 respectively), the non-stop work day yesterday with limited food, and the fact you haven't taken a day off in weeks, your decision to skip the swim was absolutely the right call. Pushing through a workout when your body is clearly signaling a need for recovery often leads to diminishing returns, increased injury risk, and burnout. You prioritized recovery, which is crucial for long-term consistency and performance.
* "Muddling through" vs. Recovery: You correctly identified that "muddling through" would not have been beneficial. A poor quality workout is often worse than no workout at all, especially when fatigued.
* "Easier to skip a Friday than a weekend": This shows self-awareness and practical planning. It's good to recognize what works for you in terms of scheduling and motivation.
Sleep Analysis:
* Oura (69) & Garmin (60): Both scores indicate poor sleep. The significant discrepancy in recorded sleep duration (6h 51m vs. 4h 46m) is interesting and suggests one or both devices might be struggling to accurately track your sleep. Regardless, the quality indicated by both scores is low. This further supports your need for recovery.
* Waking at 3:30 AM: This early wake-up, even if you went back to sleep, likely fragmented your sleep and contributed to the lower scores and feeling of fatigue.
The Lift Ahead (Looking Good!):
Your upcoming week looks well-structured with a good mix of strength, swimming, and teaching. The inclusion of BodyPump and Indoor Cycle sessions adds variety and different forms of cardio.
* Strength & Endurance Blocks: Your planned strength, endurance, and taper phases are well-defined and align nicely with your race schedule. This structured approach will be very beneficial.
RunDisney & Future Races:
* You have a clear runDisney schedule, which will keep your running goals front and center.
* Your swim meets are a great way to stay motivated and apply your training. The T.V. Senior Games and Rowdy Gaines Masters Classic in 2026 are excellent long-term targets.
2025 Swim Distance Totals:
* It's great that you're tracking your swim distances! This provides valuable data on your training volume.
Overall Assessment:
* Workout (Recovery Day): A+. You made a smart, mature decision that prioritized your long-term health and performance over a single, potentially counterproductive workout. This is a sign of an experienced athlete who understands their body's signals.
* Self-Awareness: High. You clearly understand your body's needs and the impact of external stressors (work, lack of days off).
* Planning: Excellent. Your upcoming week, training blocks, and race schedule are all well-thought-out.
Keep listening to your body. Sometimes the best workout is no workout at all!
