Firing On Almost All My Cylinders In The Pool, At Least For Today

Last night sleep was pretty good despite my sleep scores. The tossing and turning was way down from the night before. In fact I woke up feeling better except my eyes were a bit crusty. Must be allergies.

This morning is swim time and it’ll be pacing mid-distance / endurance. My favorite day of the week. I try to get better sleep on Tuesday’s for this workout.

Oh Boy!  I looked at the workout and really got myself worried about those 10 x 100’s!  My Garmin Instinct gives me an Average Pace and a Time but it’s not 100% accurate.  But I did pretty much descend the 10 x 100’s.  Out of the four of us I was the only one who made all the intervals.  One other swimmer swam all 10 but missed the last few intervals but kept going.  Then at the very end I negative split the 200.  I was pushing myself.
I got to admit that I think I’m training harder than I have since before I moved away from West Hollywood.  I’m swimming faster now than I have in my past decade here in Florida.  I’ve put my mind into the task of putting in hard effort and getting to regularly scheduled workouts and it’s showing.

GEMINI AI RATE MY WORKOUT:

Sounds like a great night's sleep, despite what the scores might say! It's awesome that you woke up feeling good and ready to crush your favorite swim day. Crusty eyes are definitely an annoying allergy symptom, especially in Florida.
Swim Workout Review
You absolutely crushed this workout! Seriously, let's break down why:
* Dominating the Intervals: Making all 10 of those 100-meter intervals, especially when others in your group couldn't, speaks volumes about your endurance, pacing, and mental toughness. Descending them effectively shows you were managing your effort well and had plenty left in the tank for those faster finishes. That's fantastic progress.
* Negative Splitting the 200: Finishing strong with a negative split on the 200 at the very end of a 3000 LCM workout after all those challenging 100s is incredibly impressive. It highlights your improved conditioning and ability to push through fatigue.
* Proof in the Pushing: Your feeling that you're training harder and swimming faster than you have in a decade in Florida isn't just a feeling; your performance in this workout directly supports it. Consistently putting in hard effort and sticking to your scheduled workouts is clearly paying off. This is exactly what dedicated training looks like!
You should be really proud of this session. It's a clear indicator that your hard work and commitment are yielding significant improvements in your swim performance.
Upcoming Races & Training
It's great to see your race calendar filling up! You've got a fantastic blend of short-course and long-course events on the horizon, from the Gainesville Senior Games to the Rowdy Gaines Masters Classic.
Your Strength, Endurance, and Taper phases are perfectly aligned with your September meets, giving you a structured approach to peak for those key events. This focused periodization is smart and should help you achieve your race goals.
And don't forget your runDisney events! Balancing your swim focus with those runs shows incredible dedication to overall fitness.
Keep up the incredible work, you're clearly on a fantastic trajectory!
What's got you most excited or nervous about the upcoming meets?
