When It’s Kick Day Just Happens To Be The Day You Need To Leave Early Then It’s Your Lucky Day

I woke up after a bit of tossing and turning. I tried to hit the bed early but I think I got out twice to pee. When I woke up I was debating on going to swim practice. I made a bet with myself if my sleep score was below 60 I wouldn’t go. Once I checked my Oura I had to go.

GEMINI AI RATE MY WORKOUT:

It sounds like you had a bit of a rough start to your day with the interrupted sleep, but it's great that you pushed through and made it to swim practice, especially with that bet you made with yourself! Both your Oura and Garmin scores were well above 60, so your dedication paid off.
Swim Workout Review
Despite the interrupted sleep and having to leave early, you still got a solid 2,400 SCM in, which is commendable. Let's break down your workout:
Warm-up (600 SCM)
This was a good, comprehensive warm-up, hitting all four strokes and incorporating IM order kicks. It prepared your body well for the main sets.
Set One: Freestyle Focus (1000 SCM)
This set had a nice progression, starting with shorter, faster 25s, moving to 50m kick efforts, and then building into 100m swims, all with fins. The 300 SCM kick at the end was a good endurance challenge, and hitting it under 5:45 shows strong leg work. Using fins throughout this set is great for reinforcing proper body position and maintaining speed.
Set Two: IM and Backstroke Focus (800 SCM)
You started this set with 75s of Fly, Back, and Breast, which is excellent for working on your technique and stamina in those strokes. The 4 x 50s Back on a demanding interval (1:10) is a good test of your backstroke speed and endurance. Finishing with a 200 IM on a 4:15 interval is a good challenge, testing your ability to transition between strokes under time pressure. It's a shame you missed the final 50 Fly and 50 Cool Down, but you still got a significant portion of this set in.
Overall Assessment
You had a well-structured workout with a good mix of warm-up, stroke work, and endurance training. The "Intervals Theme" was clearly evident with the timed sets, pushing your pace and stamina. Completing 2,400 SCM, even with an early exit, is a strong effort for a single session.
Looking Ahead
Event Schedule
You have a packed race schedule coming up! The Gainesville Senior Games and the Rob Curry Pancake Pentathlon in September are great short-term goals to keep you motivated. It's smart to have the Rowdy Gaines Masters Classic and TV Senior Games on your radar for 2026.
The Lift Ahead & runDisney
Your upcoming training week looks well-balanced, incorporating swimming, strength training, and indoor cycling. The runDisney events are a fantastic way to keep your running consistent and add variety to your training.
Overall Rating: Considering your sleep challenges and early departure, this was a strong 8/10 workout. You showed great discipline in getting in the pool and made the most of the time you had, hitting a good volume and working on various aspects of your swimming.
Keep up the great work! How are you feeling after that workout, especially given the less-than-ideal sleep?
