If the calendar is correct sometime in the next week we just might get the runDisney announcement of the themes for the 2025 Wine & Dine Half Weekend. Over on FB in one of the runDisney groups people asked what the themes might be.  That little spark, one little spark, IMAGINATION… 

A few have suggested some of the following: Zootopia, Inside Out, Marvel, 100 Acre Woods, Muppets, Villians, Cheese, Disney Cats & Dogs, Star Wars Grogu, Pirates, Avatar, Tron and Food. Many more suggested no more Princesses. Which is true they got thier own weekend.

I can’t imagine Marvel unless its Guardians or Doctor Strange. Most Marvel characters are tied to a contract at Universal. Boooo!

Please no Avatar. We don’t need to see move half naked runners painted in blue or any color. The Tutu Guys are the only half naked runners allowed.  I mean we love those guys but they are enough distraction on the race course.

Zootopia? Mmm…the sequel comes out November 26 and we know runDisney loves to promote their IP.

Moana? The original is the most streamed movie ever and the sequel was popular as well. Plus the live action version comes out in 2026. It could be…

Cheese? I guess another Ratatouille run could work. We already had the 2022 Race For the Taste Ratatouille 10k. Maybe just one race for the movie but not a theme for every race.

Tron 5K Power Run sounds fun. How about a night time Tron Power Run? A nighttime race goes with the Tron aesthetic of neon everywhere. The ride itself is called Tron Lightcycle Power Run so ya drop the word Lightcycle and ya got a race. That and the movie TRON: Ares comes out October 10th.

With all that said here are my tongue in cheek for the 2025 Wine Dine Half Weekend races:

10K Mad Hatter (Unhappy Birthday)

1/2 – Figment (Figments Journey)

Challenge – Epcot Trashcan

Why?

Swedish Chef cuz’ everyone seemed to have loved it. I know they just did it so they probably won’t repeat but they should.

Mad Hatter cuz’ he doesn’t get the glory he deserves. It could be one big Unhappy Birthday party!  Plus all the fun characters of Alice in Wonderland.  Tea and Birthday Cakes fit in with Wine & Dine.

Figment or Figment’s Journey cuz’ running is a journey.  Get it?  

Epcot Trashcan is the unofficial mascot of Food & Wine so lets honor the hero! For my non-Disney folks – during Food & Wine there are Never enough tables so people hover over the trash cans to eat. It’s a running gag. So it’s time to make it a running event.

Of course runDisney has its own plans working with Disney IP and what ever the want to promote at the time. What do you think will be the 2025 themes?  Feel free to post below.
